Waunakee jumped out early with 5 runs in the first inning, but Black Earth countered with 4 of their own in the bottom half. In the bottom of the third the Bombers took advantage of a few walks and some singles to plate 2 runs for a 6-5 lead. Waunakee would answer with 4 hits and 3 walks in the top half of the fourth inning, and would go on to win 11-7. The bats seemed to be in mid-season form as the two teams combined for 27 hits in the 2024 season opener.
